If you wish to help improve learning methods "inside the classroom", then that's where you need to work each day -- not outside the classroom. Once you have approached a school (administration and teachers) then provide them with your plans, AND work with them daily inside the classrooms. This will mean that you will have to become familiar with each classroom's syllabus, and then provide them with ways that students can best learn. Always, of course, respect each teacher as leader, and work beside him/her as aide. (Provide and review each lesson plan with each teacher "in advance" so he/she can work "with you" and not having to "follow you" in the classroom.) That is the definition of "direct support". Let me know if I may be of assistance.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17750759171500453290noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6101978098531625520.post-87072140458502629972014-04-10T08:39:03.552-07:002014-04-10T08:39:03.552-07:00I came across you posting while looking up info on...I came across you posting while looking up info on the Belize educational system (math particularly) . Feb /13 I visited the rural area of Belize in the Cayo district as a retired teacher from Canada interested in assisting teachers in your country provide quality math education. We were able to collect books in Canada and get them to elementary school libraries in Belize. This year I have been asked if I would like to bring some form of high school teacher training to some staff members at a couple of schools in Belize City area. My concern is that after having been in education for 40 years ( guidance , math , administration, etc.) that additional teacher training courses outside of school seldom produce any additional support to the students.
I would like to know if you could recommend anyway in which I could work with the schools and bring direct support to the individual students in the classroom. Your posting has really struck a cord with me and I feel your comments are right on. I hope the June /14 results will show a great improvement for the children in Belize. I would greatly appreciate hearing from you.

m.a.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
